When we first started to homeschool, I was completely overwhelmed. We enrolled our oldest (3rd grade at the time) in an elementary science class at Hope Learning Center right away. It was amazing and she learned so much! The staff at HLC has walked alongside us for 8 years of homeschooling now, and I don’t know how we would have made it this far without them. They have encouraged us, given advice, helped with curriculum choices, prayed for our family, and so much more. All 4 of our kids are currently enrolled in HLC. We now have 2 in high school, and having them enrolled in HLC through the Academy NW program which has been so wonderful. Our oversight teacher makes sure they are on track for graduation, and helps us every step of the way. Thanks to Hope Learning Center, our family has been able to successfully homeschool our children. I highly recommend checking them out! ~ Jenny B.
Hope Learning Center has been a truly enriching addition to our homeschool years. The flexibility of classes and selection are a perfect complement to what we do at home. Giving my girl a classroom experience, with other students as a peer group, challenging each other, learning together, and the discipline of a classroom setting has all been invaluable in adding to her scheduling and study skills at home. Ms. Baker’s and Mrs. Sagert’s wisdom and guidance have been such a comfort and security over the last 7 years. Their obvious love and care for their students is what makes HLC the wonderful place that it is. We recommend HLC to anyone looking for great, and most importantly Biblical teaching. I know I don’t ever have to worry about what is being taught in the classrooms at HLC as it will always align with the Bible and not with some agenda that rejects the Bible’s authority. If parent or child is struggling with any element of their homeschool education, I know that the HLC teachers will be supportive and helpful in whatever way they possibly can, getting and keeping you on track for graduation and a healthy homeschool experience. With the public schools being what they are right now, HCL has been a safe place for learning and developing and growing up, free of the world’s need to interfere in the moral education of my family. I’m so thankful for the years we’ve spent with HLC and will miss them dearly next year as we head into Running Start! But, I know they have helped to prepared her to enter the world at large with a solid heart and mind for Christ. Thank you Ms. Baker and Mrs. Sagert for your love and commitment to your students! ~ Jennifer M.
I’ve attended Hope Learning Center for 7 years and each one has built upon the fundamentals in ways that are engaging and that stick with you. Ms. B and Mrs. Sagert have been such a blessing as teachers, from their compassion and genuine care for their students to their eagerness to make sure each student gains from the class, it has been an invaluable experience. Hope has the perfect balance of needed school structure to understanding teachers who will work with you to ensure you get the most out of the class throughout any complications. Each year, you have the opportunity to create and grow friendships with both peers and teachers and it is a wonderfully respectful and loving community. The classes will encourage you to do things that may put you out of your comfort zone just enough that you learn and grow while gaining lifelong skills and knowledge. The faith-based teaching has always been not only encouraging, as prayer in the beginning of class starts off the school day right, but also comforting as you know that everything being taught is coming from a solid Christian worldview. I am so thankful that I’ve been able to attend this school and be a part of this community. ~ Evie M. ANW Student
When my eldest child started middle school, I began looking for core classes learning opportunities outside of our homeschool. Initially, the science classes brought us to Hope Learning Center, but when our second child hit middle school, we took advantage of as many classes as we could for both our students. The classes are engaging and Christ centered. The teachers are supportive in and out of the classroom. They really do team up with you to further your child’s education and are just as invested in your students success as you are. I can’t imagine what our high school homeschooling years would have looked like without HLC and I am thankful for their influence and care of my children. ~ Michelle K. 2022
My family has been blessed to be a part of Hope Learning Center for 2 years now. We are a large family who have had children in school now for almost 30 years. I home schooled for 12 then the kids went to private school for 12 years. After moving into the country we decided to tackle homeschooling again with high schoolers! I began searching for a homeschool program that I felt would help me balance the requirements for a Washington state diploma and my desire to homeschool. I heard through a friend about HLC and the rest they say is history. We started in the 2019/2020 school year with a Senior and a Sophomore. And I can honestly say this program has been nothing short of amazing!!! The teachers are so wonderful and kind and genuinely care about my kiddos. The cost was a fraction of the private school tuition yet my kids got 100% of the guidance, care, teaching and direction of a certified teacher. I LOVE the fact we can use our curriculum or have in person classes. I LOVE the fact that I have a certified teacher walking me through all the ins and outs of Washington requirements. I LOVE that my senior was able to graduate in the covid year with her classmates and a diploma!! I LOVE the relationships between my kids and their oversight teacher! This program has made high school home schooling not only possible for our family but truly enjoyable and completely achievable. I have already enrolled my next 2 in the line at HLC for this coming school year and look forward to more of my family getting to participate. We will be around for a while!! Thank you to our teachers and administrators for the blessing of Hope Learning Center. We so appreciate you.

Our family has been attending HLC every year for the past 8 years. The staff at HLC is top notch! The light of Christ exudes from the administrative and teaching staff as they strive to provide a quality learning environment. The staff prayerfully makes decisions for the school and its students and really has a heart for following the Lord’s guidance in their personal lives and at HLC. My three homeschooled children have taken Ms. Baker’s science sequence: Physical Science, Biology and Chemistry. All of my children have loved Ms. Baker’s classes! She has a special way of making science fun and enjoyable to learn. She’s not afraid of doing the messy and exciting experiments like dissecting dead creatures and making dry ice experiments. She not only wants to make science fun and enjoyable but has a sincere desire to see students learn and grow to be the best that they can be academically and in their character. My grown adult children still enjoy going back to visit ‘Ms. B’ (as students call her). Ms. Baker and HLC helped me get my children through middles school and high school science and left a mark on each of their lives for the better. Our entire family would like to thank the entire HLC staff for investing in our children’s lives all these years. ~Wendy K. 2022
Enrollment in Academy Northwest with teacher oversight plus some classes at Hope Learning Center have been the best option for our special needs daughter. Educating her on our own was no longer working, and other methods we had previously tried failed. HLC was truly an answer to prayer. Our daughter’s oversight teacher brainstorms with us “outside-the-box” in order to meet academic requirements in non-conventional ways. She has my back if one of our several health care professionals ever questions our daughter’s school progress. She is a listening ear when the going gets rough and we need to make changes. The staff and teachers genuinely care and pray for each student and family. They are trustworthy and proficient. They operate with integrity in speech and action, and wisely manage all aspects of the Center. I highly recommend HLC. The teacher oversight and classes are truly worth every cent. ~ Homeschool Veteran, Mother to Four
Our family has been going to Hope Learning center for about 8 years. Our kids love it and the teachers. They are exceptional at helping the kids understand their subjects and keeping them on track. Mrs. Sagert and Ms. Baker have been their main teachers through high school and we love them. I have especially appreciated the extra accountability and encouragement of oversight with Ms. Baker all these years. Homeschooling with Hope Learning Center has been a blessing and an answer to prayer. ~Christy and Kendall P.
We have four children, whom we have homeschooled from the start. Our children are now all high schoolers or young adults, and all of them have taken classes with Hope Learning Center. As a homeschool family, we wanted to get our kids some good “classroom experience” with someone other than mom. So starting in late middle school/ early high school, we chose to enroll our students in various classes at Hope Learning Center, all of which have been excellent! We primarily focused on science classes, and some of our teens have also taken the civics, health, and worldview classes. All have been wonderfully presented, and each student excelled in the positive classroom environment available at Hope Learning Center. We feel that our students’ experience at Hope Learning Center helped to round our their education, and also facilitated their ability to “learn how to learn” with other non-HLC subjects as well. It also helped them prepare them for college work and college expectations. We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Hope Learning Center! ~ Denise W. 2022
Hope Learning Center is a place where kids of any age can feel safe and also have a great time learning. Ms. Baker is a fantastic teacher who is always in a cheerful mood and willing to help anyone who needs it. My experience at Hope Learning Center was always full of fun times with all the teachers and parents at the school. Both Mrs. Sagert and Ms. Baker, the two main teachers, have helped me improve in a multitude of ways and in many subjects such as science and writing. Through them I was well prepared to take on college. ~ 2018 ANW Graduate
Our kids have been attending ANW for about the last 7 years. As parents, we chose Academy NW primarily because of the nature of the school; we could still homeschool our children freely without any oppressive oversight; and yet receive accredited documentation regarding our students’ educations to eliminate any questions regarding homeschool transcripts and diplomas. Particularly we chose Kathleen Baker and Erika Sagert as our teacher consultants because of their marvelous personalities, first-class work ethics and can-do attitudes. Working personally with any student of need, the teachers are absolutely wonderful, easily available to all students and parents, independent, imaginative and unconstrained by the parameters government places on public school. Top quality class subject matter together with a relaxed and engaging class environment, support student learning. Biblical emphasis underlies all teaching, which guides students toward a moral and ethical life. My family could not be happier with our choice of Hope Learning Center, under the banner of Academy NW. Our son Alexander, graduated June 2018 from ANW and is now at Clark College pursuing a CSE major. Our daughter, Madelaine, is a senior at ANW, and attends Running Start at Clark College. She’ll be graduating with an AA in Biology and has been accepted to Washington Statue University in the fall. ~Katie and Eric O. Parents of 2 ANW Graduates
My first class with Ms. Baker was Zoology when I was like 8 or something. I remember looking forward to going to each class. After that, we went back to just homeschooling until it was time for me to begin high-school, and I am so glad we went back. While receiving a better education than I could have just at home, I was able to meet and interact with awesome people I call my friends. In addition, we were able to put together service activities to go out and fellowship while serving the community. The class layout is very practical in preparing students for future education because it prepares students well to work outside of class, which is pretty well the layout of post-secondary education. The format also lines students up well for participating in “Running Start”. Being accredited is extremely valuable when it comes to looking for a college. Had it not been for the accreditation, I would have missed out on important scholarships, such as the school’s merit scholarship. -Matthew L., 2018 Graduate
